Review finds hundreds of LA school libraries without staff, shuttered
89.3 KPCC (blog)
Figures out this week show only half of L.A. Unified school libraries have even part-time staff and far fewer have a credentialed librarian.

Susan Grigsby‘s insight:

"only half of L.A. Unified school libraries have even part-time staff and far fewer have a credentialed librarian." While I commend ALA for taking a stand on freedom of information and freedom of speech and privacy issues, I must lament what feels like absolute silence on the demise of properly staffed school libraries – not just in LA but all over the country.
