Apple has been issued a patent by the USPO today (via AppleInsider) that describes a system for using facial recognition and detection on a mobile or desktop computing device.

This is an interesting development and I’ll be curious to see how this impacts school libraries, privacy issues, BYOD, etc. Could this also be the beginning of a more seamless interface for people with a variety of physical impediments to using current smartphone technology?
