As I read this piece I felt a little angry. Why? Because what if, as the author suggests, what we’ve been doing HAS been the right thing? What if it isn’t that students aren’t learning it’s that we’ve been asking the wrong questions? Maybe it’s not the curriculum, maybe it’s the widening gaps that exist between economic groups that we just don’t want to deal with. I find it interesting that our leaders are cutting the food stamp program at the same time they’re cutting education budgets – what’s the REAL message here? Think about it.
