The Georgia Book Award nominees for 2011-2012 have been announced and many of my Georgia colleagues are busily creating their Reading Bowl Teams to compete in this year’s event. If you’re looking for an easy way to promote the titles with some real pizzaz, check out the slideshow below that I created using PictureTrail.
First, I gathered the books and scanned each of the titles. I saved the scans as .jpg files on my computer. Then I went to PictureTrail where I had already registered for a free account. By clicking on the “Slideshow” tab I was able to get started. I simply uploaded the photos, made captions for each picture that gave the Title and Author information, then played around with all the different backgrounds, borders, skins, animations, and design features. When it was time to save the file I gave it a name and then PictureTrail provided the HTML code for me to copy and place here (and on my website!) It’s easy and it’s fun.
Sign up for an account and give it a try. Before you know it, you’ll come up with all kinds of great ideas for using PictureTrail slideshows to promote books, your library, or upcoming events. Have fun!
